Unfortunately for XC90 3.2 owners, that engine compartment layout is totally different.

Oh I agree. What I was meaning is that removing the wheel to gain access to remove and install the serpentine belt on the xc90 maybe the same process.

@woodg
How did you end up accomplishing this? I'm stuck trying to get that last bolt off the power steering bracket....so frustrating!

Re: 2009 XC90 3.2 Serpentine belt
Update: After much hassle, I finally got the bolt out with a 1/4 drive ratchet 10mm socket and secret blend of 11 herbs and spices to get the length just right.

Hey Guys
I replaced my serpentine belt a few weeks ago and I follow this tread: https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic33363.html
I recomend you to read that tread. I also write there some advises with some photos
We use a joint Swivel Socket Adapter with a long extension to remove one of the screws that hold the power steering pump. This screw is located in the fire wall side and is almost impossible to see this screw…… You have to put your hand there and fill it with your fingers, connect the socket and hold it there while somebody with a long extension ratchet it to remove or tighter it.

Good luck
Isaac

Re: 2009 XC90 3.2 Serpentine belt
Excellent write up Turbo_Boss. Much better than the instructions I was following and will no doubt help a lot of people.
For anyone in the future: In was able to reach under the ABS and turn a 1/4 ratchet with enough extension to clear the transmission shift cable to break the PS bolt. If your particular bolt is better behaved, a 10mm 6-point ratcheting stubby wrench would probably get the job done.
