2006: S60 R/really? What a shame
Hey all MDK here. So I was bored and was surfing ipd's classified ad. Apparently, a guy in Portland Oregon has a 2006 S60 R and it was broken into. It's an automatic and they snapped the shift column off... broke off both stalks off steering column and ripped out the glove box and and sunvisors. The car has only 108,000 miles on it and he's asking 1500$. If someone here on the forum can help him out or wants to put it back together... here you go. [email protected] I know I could fix all these things myself and with that mileage it's probably a 7-8000$ dollar sedan. What a shame. That s:;n✓©%¥÷^¢ who did that should be caught and made to pay... rrrrrhh!!

My question would be how much damage was done actually "breaking in" to the car?
Window glazing only? Pried frame or door metal? Maybe the car was unlocked?

It is always a bit sobering to realize how close you are to one relatively benign incident making a car beyond economical repair. An enthusiast is the only hope here - somone who values an R beyond what the market will pay.

Excited, going to go take a look at it tonight! Bringing My DiCE setup with. Interested to see if it will actually start without the gearshift assembly in place or if that causes a no start. Owner said police found scratch marks on the passenger door indicative of a shim being forced in between the outer door panel and glass.
I really appreciate you pointing out the classifieds post, MDK. I never check IPD!

Update! We made a deal! I have an 06 s40- red, 5speed, cloth interior. We are going to trade straight across. I'm so excited!!!!
Problem, though- With the gear selector snapped off, how do I get the car into neutral so I can winch it up onto my flatbed? The car starts just fine but I have no way to swap gears.

Hey Kara .. that's great! I wondered what happened with that deal. You'll need a mechanic to disconnect the shift cable at the transmission and manually put it in nuetral. If you're in Portland Oregon..I think you are. 800 444 6473 that's IPD s number... see if they can get you a little help. You have a few hurdles to over come. Once you get it running... you're gonna love it!
