2004 XC70 Auto 172 K miles -- Random Stalling

Very recently Ruby Red has stalled twice while moving with no CEL. Driving last night I felt a weird hesitation at speed as though it could stall. Fuel pump going?

Prior owner said it did that with the fob key, but not the valet key. Coincidence?

Symptomatic of a PEM acting up - remember, no discrete fuel pump relay on these cars. I got skipping between 45-55 mph, then suddenly a crank, no-start after breakfast.

If you open the PEM up before it quits, you can likley clean out the oxidised Aluminum, spray with contact cleaner, and have a spare for when your new one comes, or get three spares from Harrys.

They arent cheap - like $350 new.

I already have one in inventory. Not sure it's for that car though. . .

Wait for jimmy to chime in. There are several part numbers but I think there is a broad compatability on PEMs. I seem to recall there is one part number for plastic and one for metal fuel tank, and a chassis break in 2006
