Mishimoto universal Radiator Fan for replacing 9497929 (1994-2000)

Bearings are starting to howl in my cooling fan, I'm on FCP's website and I see a mishimoto 16" universal radiator fan for about $85 and a Volvo radiator fan for $360. No brainier here. Just wondering if anyone has used a mishimoto and if so what size did you use?

Edit: I just realized that this post may not have been specific enough. I am looking at a mishimoto 16" thin radiator cooling fan. Not a climate control fan.

I was eyeing fans in the junkyard last weekend, thinking about the same thing. I wonder if it is possible to replace or rebuild the motor inside the fan?

I was thinking about grabbing a junk yard fan but it's like an hour to the nearest junkyard into the sketchiest part of town, my wife really does not like me going there. Also they very rarely have a p80 in stock.

I'm going to order the 16" mishimoto from FCP Euro and custom fab it to the existing fan shroud. That sucker flows 1600 cfm. Picture the cold ac...

I misinterpreted your post. When you said "no brainer" my brain immediately when to the volvo part for $360. Mine was replaced 10 years ago when the factory fan wires decided to have an existential meltdown.

I went through a spell of pulling fans from P80's for some reason along with the cabin sensors. I have a bunch of them and they have all been tested in one of my cars with quiet bearings. Need to start clearing some stuff out as hope to move in the near future. Some are OE and some are Behr (OEM).

$20 plus shipping if anyone is interested. Usual guarantee, if it doesn't work for any reason I will refund the part cost $20. PM me if you want one.

Motor itself is replaceable...you just need a puller tool to remove and transfer the plastic "wings".

Quick Update I went ahead and ordered the mishimoto 16" fan, I'll report back on wednesday after I install it.

I agree with you ZionXIX. I would not even put a used part here. I know from Mike's mud trucks, universal fans fail quickly. So after the OP riggs the cheap universal fan in there. One day six months or a year from now when it fails or the spliced wires loose contact naturally when his wife is in traffic... Boom it's going to overheat and blow the engine. So the $2XX.XX saved could cost a engine. That's my thinking anyway. June

Callahan - if the fan in my 1999 partout is still available and you are short on pizza dough, its yours for karmic pay. Check the part number in my thread in CLASSIFIEDS for compatibility. Its off a 1999 base but I think it will work

Hot tip - replace those horrible torx screws on the fan housing (x4) with SS 3/8 lag screws from LoweQuality and the fan is much easier to remove. They rust horribly there.

The screws are 3/8 socket size, Ill find the Lowes SKU and post

Isn't it great how part numbers like 9497929 end confusion ?

Just checked - my 1999 fan will work back to 1994 because they are both called 'cooling fan'
