Where does this ******* hose go

Post by jmsherndon » Sat Jul 13, 2019 8:31 am

So, 98 v70 sprung a fuel line leak in the line near the tank, left side. I try following the hose but lose it as it goes over the tank. it seems to go to the fuel filter but I can't be positive and i cant drop the tank due to the sheer amount of rust on the bolts they just snap. so before I cut and try to patch work this mess can anyone confirm that the fuel hose from the left hand side of the fuel tank does indeed go to the fuel filter via some non-visible route over the tank. or where that hose goes in general so i can get this dealt with

p.s. constant pain for the past 3 months trying to figure this out, please help

Its complicated back there. Go the volvo webstore, put your VIN in and you will get the diagram of how this works in exploded form.

ITs common to have to drop the tank to deal with these, just drill out and replace the hardware.

unfortunately drill out the hardware isn't an option (don't have access to the tools) and looking at the site i can see the lines just not where they go or how the interconnect

I remember having to replace a short, formed rubber hose on top of the tank on one of mine. It's still available. You will have to drop the tank. Start applying PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench liberally a few days ahead of time.

I disconnect the line at the fuel rail and add a few feet of hose to reach a 5 gallon gas can. Then I run the fuel pump until the tank is dry. Makes dropping it a little easier.
