long time lurker, finally registered for an account to ask a question..
but 1st, just wanna say Thank You to all the people that have put tutorials on here, it's gotten me thru a main seal replacement, as well as a pcv system replacement, and front intake and exhaust cam seal replacement. You guys are the best!!
anyway, I've done all that, and still have a pretty significant oil leak from the timing belt area. it's getting pretty damn discouraging! so I apologize if this horse has been beaten to death, but any ideas where this leak is coming from??
it's an 01 v70xc awd 2.4L turbo. only 88k miles on it. I'm ready to set it on fire and sob over its burning remains, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
massive oil leak...at a loss!!

Only way to track it is visually finding it or with a dye and lamp.

It’s really easy to mess up the cam seal install or use bad parts that’s won’t work well
If you remove the TB cover I bet you will see one Is still leaking
How is the crankcase pressure? If your car won’t pass the “ glove test” it will blow brand new seals rightout again

passed the glove test no problem..
when I did the dye and light test it looked as if it was coming from down near the tensioner for the timing belt..but I couldn't see very far down in there from how the engine sits in the car.
maybe I should've taken off the back cover that goes behind all the rollers/tensioners for the t&a belts? I'm kinda new to this..not a very good diagnostician.
dont think it's from the cam seals, at least not anymore, seems to be coming from lower than that.

The only thing lower than that are the oil cooler hoses under the bottom pulley. The turbo oil lines on the back of the block are lower too but rarely leak as they are steel with copper washers and wouldn't leave oil in the timing cover area anyway. I too would bet on a cam seal.

On a 2001 the oil cooler is the biscuit type with no oil lines so you won’t be leaking there to the front of the motor
