2004 XC70 suspension position sensor

Post by enotslim » Fri Aug 09, 2019 6:18 pm

This image looks like a "rear suspension position sensor" whose rivets let go from the left control arm. I should be able to reattach with self tapping screws. But I can't find anything about this part online except how to buy it. What function does this part and its attached parts perform. Is it necessary? Does it require service? Online info?

Send suspension angle information to the ECU to then determine traction control.

Just reattach. If you drive like a normal person you probably won’t even notice loss of function.

I thought we were careful with that pry bar, do you think we did that? Could be a broken spring casualty

Thanks for the explanation. I felt a "jump" in the rear end changing lanes at 40 mph on an uneven road. Not severe and only once. I think it preexisted the strut job. Makes a rattling noise I've heard for a while. Zip tied to be sure it's still there when I have time to reattach it.

HID headlights? Afaik headlight leveling is the only things it's used for and cars with halogen shouldn't have one. The traction control on these things is a rather simple affair relying on abs rings.
