Scotty Kilmer does not like that one. The one he likes in the 04/23/18 video, which is nicer is not available on Amazon any more for some reason. The fear is bumping it off. With a regular nut it won't happen.

This is sitting in the garage some place collecting dust. Am hoping to do all future oil changes with it.

I’m not a fan but that’s a well made expensive ball valve approach. Well done.

I kind of like rolling under with the car up on ramps as an inspection of other things

Maybe on the T5 with it’s 2-3 month oil change in interval....

Replacing the drain plug in itself doesn't really make a difference on the work load when you still have to get it up on ramps and take the big plastic cover off.

It would however save me having to stick my hand in the tray full of hot oil to retrieve the plug that I almost always manage to drop :-)

The thing with the drain plug is it gets messy - not to mention when you drop it in the drain pan

But yes, really important to use a quality valve, not just anyone. Just wonder why don't any car makers use a drain valve from the factory ? Not even high end cars. Not because it's not safe, because it certainly can be designed to be safe enough. Just perhaps they didn't think about it.

The following one is NOT necessarily the correct size for Volvo - just posting for the reviews

Found it:

Seems the best make, but I feel personally I would probably misplace the second tube piece that screws in, and if i actually go to a service they would need to unbolt it altogether...

just for clarity=drain hole points backwards

EZ one needs adapter/extender because of pan shape, not sure if the valvomax needs it...

I just use my vacuum oil sucker from the top. I never liked those valves.

You mean something like this? Do you warm your engine? I'm hoping to soon use mine for the 1st time.

Thanks for the info. If the fluid extractor works well I shouldn't have to crack the oil plug again for all 5 cars :D .
