EPB (Electronic parking brake)

Post by Mr. Detail » Thu Aug 22, 2019 6:33 am

Hi Guys;
Can anyone tell me an easy way to tell if I have the "EPB" unit on my older P2?
2002 V70 Base
Just wondered if I have to deal with removal of this if I decide to do my own rear brake pads.

It has a mechanical handle between the front seats, and the parking brake is completely independent of the rear brake pads. The parking brake is drum style, acting on the inside of the rear brake rotor/drum (its both)

One last "rear" brake question here. I believe everyone says to just press or clamp the piston back in but I just read about the need to turn the piston back into a flat position with that special tool. Is this necessary? The rotating aspect.

Push the piston back in using a C clamp. No turning required on the caliper pistons.

Pic of 2019 XC90 electric parking brake button and light indicating applied in my service loaner. For future lookers who aren't sure what they have. I much prefer my S80s handle type. June
