Mounting start button on old S70?
So I recently swapped my lock cylinder to one I got at the scrap. I taped my old key behind the antenna so I didn't have to program my "new" keys. Now I'm thinking, would it be possible to hook up a start button in case my new key starts having problem starting the car. Do anyone have a schematic of the cables that are connected to the ignition lock? I'm guessing I would have to hook into these and connect them to a start button.

On a 1999, the ECM will not like having the key in constant proximity to the antenna, and might give a code for this. Its a non CEL code, so you won't see it, but you might get a start stall cycle, followed by a successful start and run cycle after that. There is no other reason to think you new key and lock cylinder won't work, all the other electrical part of this circuit is identical. It is possible two keys close to the antenna might also confuse it, though. I mounted my antenna rings under the dash for that reason(I had a spare one)

Oh really? I didn't know that...then I might do what you did, tuck the antenna ring away and tape the old key there.abscate wrote: ↑15 Sep 2019, 12:30 On a 1999, the ECM will not like having the key in constant proximity to the antenna, and might give a code for this. I have another problem in my S70, the immobilizer never sleeps, so my antenna ring is always illuminated. That might be the cause of my IMMOB fault and start/fail cycle, and Im pretty confident of that.
In my car, its start, stall. Count to three, start again, and drive away.

Sounds odd but yeah, it's not unreasonable to think that it is causing your issues...abscate wrote: ↑15 Sep 2019, 13:10 I have another problem in my S70, the immobilizer never sleeps, so my antenna ring is always illuminated. If you remove your key, the antenna ring turns off? Do you still have this cold start issue then? I am thinking if removing it somehow clears this code you are talking about.

I have a key mounted up inside the dash area as you need that to by-pass the ignition to allow remote start to work.

No, and more than one key on a ring can also confuse the immobilizer
