I'm a newbie to this diy car stuff but I love this car and i want to learn as much as i can & help her live a long life.

She's got 135600 miles on her, and shes been from Pennsylvania to Minnesota to Florida. I'm the 3rd owner. I still have contact with the last owner if that helps anything but hes also not a car guy.

The problem I'm having is water keeps coming into the passenger footwell via I think the blower motor. I've read up on things to try to fix it and I'm currently troubleshooting. The part that stumps me is how to get all the dang water out of the carpet now. I dont have access to a shop vac. I saw there is a way to remove the carpeting but I didn't see a way to put it back... any tips & tricks?

Smell it, is it water or antifreeze?

Take the cover off the A pillar and check the sunroof drain hose.

Look up from the under side for a rubber plug that you can push out of the way to drain the footwell.
If not, you could make a drain hole then plug it later ...

I've smelled it and tasted it & it's water.
I'm not sure what the A pillar is but that idea about making a drain point is genius! I will have to give that a go. I'd just need a small hole and a rubber stopper of some sort right? Is there anything else I should use to keep the hole from rusting, a seal or coating of some sort?

Sorry if I'm asking 5th grade questions, I'm completely new to working with cars.

Pillars support the roof.
A pillars are the ones between the Windshield and the front doors.
B pillars are between the front and back doors.
C pillars are between the back door and the rear window.

If you google " Rubber Stoppers Body Plugs" you will find the type of plugs the automotive manufacturers use. However you can use just about anything to plug it, RTV, JB weld, Metallic tape ... etc.

I'm not sure if the '92 740 used sunroof drain design or a water tight sunroof.
Here is how to deal with drain type sunroofs. Sometimes the hose will shrink and pull out of the pass through valve. Then instead of draining down to the ground it drains into the footwell.
