Help please !
Issue#1
My 1997 Volvo 960 wagon has a coolant leak that my mechanic said its external head gasket leak. I had him fix the coolant leak twice before which cost me about $600 and after about 2 week this leak appeared. And now he suggested that my car too old I should not invest more money fixing it ...there will be more problems down the road .
The weird thing that I observed is it leaked pretty badly if it was driven on city street and for short distance but if it was driven on freeway there was almost no leak at all.
Can anyone explain what happen with my car and how to fix it.?
Issue #2
The AC works fine blowing out cold air when first turn on but after few minutes then the warm air come. But if I turned off the AC then turn it back on a few minutes later and it works fine again...and the warm air come after ...the pattern is all the same.
I have recharged with new freon, replaced cycling switch ...What is wrong with my AC system? ..the condenser?
Thank you,

Re: External head gasket coolant leak
Eliminate the 22psi pressure. I run all my cars without pressure by drilling tiny hole in the cap or ripping the gasket out. Never had engine overheat or overboil even in 100 degrees days sitting on black highway or climbing maintains.
22 psi is what kills most old Volvo with junk yards full of head gasket blown.

Thanks for the reply...Out of desperation I used Bar's Leak...cost me about $40 ...problem solved...no more coolant leak.
