04 Volvo v70 Front Suspension

Post by Neuhaus »

I have been chasing some play in my front passenger side wheel. I noticed some play some time ago and thought it was a wheel hub assembly. Most move top and bottom, some movement side to side. After inspecting both sides of the front suspension, I bought lower control arms, wheel hub assemblies, tie rod ends and ball joints for both sides.

After installing the new parts, I still have movement on the front right tire while on the ground. it is only at the 12 o'clock position and sounds almost squeeky. when I push the tire in. CJ joint axle? I do have noise going over bumps so I do think I have a worn shock on the right side, could that be culprit as well?

How many miles on it ? While there, it is important to buy quality parts online, such as Lemforder, Sachs, and perhaps Ipd HD

I don't think it would be a CV joint. Noise over bumps can easily be worn anti-roll bar bushings at the subframe, especially with more than 150k miles and on hot summer days after driving for little while. Difficult to replace and not really good in aftermarket. Could also be the end links.

Try looking inside the engine bay with the engine running, ask someone to turn the steering from lock to lock, and look at the top of the struts - if one side moves up and down then it's the spring seats. Buy only Sachs or CRP/Rein

The vehicle has 148000 miles currently. The new wheel hub has about 300 miles on it. Thanks.
