Car problems

So my car will start, go into any gear, but will not move after 10 seconds. I can put my foot on the gas and it wont drive or reverse. Transmission fluid is about an inch over the hashed line but look clear as day although it has a funky smell like its burnt but there's something else as well. I've looked over the shift linkage it's shifting fine. I am at a complete loss at what is going on can anyone help? Has anyone had anything remotely similar?
