98 v70 XC Gasoline octane

Post by CIK7 »

I'm about to go on a road trip to Wisconsin. I typically find a bunch of gas stations along my route that have ethanol-free gas and that's what I did. I found a gas station in MO that offers 91 and 110 grades only. $3.19 and $6.20. I've read the owner's manual; for optimum performance use 91, minimum is 87. Maximum of 10% ethanol. I certainly wouldn't want to fill up my whole tank, but what would be the effects of putting in a couple gallons of 110? I'm very curious. Anybody done this? I imagine it would provide better performance? At the same time it's made to handle 91.
For those of you that like to use pure gas, refer to pure-gas.org. it's the most handy way to find some near you. It uses Google Maps.

You won't notice any difference but in your wallet. Unless you're doing any big tuning with bigger turbos, you really won't see any benefits. I have 2000 XC with bigger injectors, 16T turbo, a tune... and 91/93 is still just fine.
