Volvo 2000 S70 - $1000 133,144 Miles

Thoughts or advise on this 2000 S70 NA. Too slow or other issues besides those mentioned in the ad?

Seems like a great deal except for the driver's fender looks a little dull and does not line up at the front with the hood? Replaced perhaps. Love the interior. Beige leather or this interior are both very nice.

I have never seen that interior before. It is certainly different. This may be an SE spec as it has the leather interior and for me the bonus of it appears to have no sunroof.

I would ask for clarification on if the car has been in an accident or get a Carfax or similar on the vehicle.

2000 S70 (non-turbo) will have the 5 speed auto which some say is less reliable. If serviced they can be ok and will give better mileage than the 4 speed. I sold a 2000 V70 SE a year ago to my buddy after doing a lot of work on it and he loves it. Sure they are not a quick car but are good on the highway and are peppy as you get that extra gear ratio for accelerating.

Car looks tidy, the interior door panels have the usual separating of the vinyl. The work it needs could easily add up. I always say there is no such thing as a cheap Volvo. I wish you luck.

Mm throttle, so look to see if It is white or yellow label.

Throttle lasts about 150k miles, $500 to fix

The VVT hub job is like a timing belt change, so $600 plus part at indie, or2 hours labor with cam locking tool,

VVT IS $400 new, used part is ok.

Looks nice, but I would add at least another $750 to $1000 to what abscate already mentioned for the stuff that always pops up after the fact (suspension, brakes, tune-up and so on). This is just based on my own personal experience.

So you may end up paying around $3k for a base model with no options. If you are ok with that, go right ahead and buy it.

Do people really not like sunroofs? In my climate, I would die without one. Evita is the only car in my entire fleet that doesnt have a sunroof.

The test drive would tell you if suspension was pressing or a later need. With the shape that interior is in, Im guessing its a lightly driven car with a lot of life in it. Even at 3k in, its a good candidate to go 300,000 miles, which would make it a financial dream.

Hmmm. Im in RDU this week too. Maybe Ill save that plane ticket back.

Took a look. Was getting dark and car is on Non-Op so just drove it out of the court and turned around. Local Volvo Specialist quoted owner $1,300 for bunch of work including timing belt.

Engine purrs and sound strong, glove test is excellent pulling good suction. Green paint clear coat gone on trunk everywhere else starting to go. Highest offer so far is $850.
