codes I can't clear

Post by michael8888 » Tue Oct 01, 2019 1:08 pm

My beloved 98 v70t5 of 12 years had never failed me until a few weeks ago when I had a charging issue. So after some diagnostics I determine the voltage regular was not putting out enough juice. I order a replacement and replaced it however it was faulty and created a parasitic drain on the battery and it caused all type of system faults. I replaced the replacement voltage reg and the battery drain went away, however I still have a lot of codes that won't clear with two different readers and the car is basically running very well.
242 tc control valve (I replaced the controller)
541 Evaporator control valve (I replaced one near gas tank)
CI- 221 vvs signal missing (may be bad sensor at front left wheel)
CI-132 rpm signal missing (tach is working)

I also replace the front O2 sensor which removed the 212 and 521 codes

I removed the front air pump under the battery many years ago so these code don't matter:
445 air pump
616 canister valve
447 control valve air pump

If anyone has an idea what might be causing the 242, 541, 221,132 codes it would appreciated. I know its got to be something stupid.
thx
michael

Have you disconnected the battery for an hour or so? I think this should clear most codes. But maybe I'm wrong.

yes. didn't work. tried two different scanners one being my autel 808
I have two ecu's and the codes came up on both so the issue has to be a short in the system
I tested for mili-amp draw on the battery add pulled fuses and got no change in load.
might have to test every wire in the harness or keep replacing sensors.
I starting to think the volt reg fried a bunch of sensors and valves.
