Rear Caliper 10mm or 11mm mounting holes..? 5003813 5003814

Post by BlackBart »

In ordering new calipers for the rear of my '94 850T, I'm seeing two part numbers. One says "with 10mm mounting holes," the other says "with 11mm mounting holes."

So, I'm a bit confused here - the bolt is a 10mm shaft, so of course the hole is just a hair bigger than that. How literal do you think that is? The hole measures maybe 10.5mm.

I though there was only one 850 rear caliper.

put your VIN into VOLVO OEM parts and see if you can get clarity there.

Thanks. I'm not seeing anywhere to enter VIN there. I see the M10 bolt.

On my car they list two at the rear, 5003814 and 5003813 - they don't say which is left or right, but that's my assumption....

What do you think "for 3546491-6" and "for 3546492-4" mean? Those aren't VINs I don't think. Mine is 2065786, miles from those numbers.

They also list a single (which side??) 850R and T5-R caliper for $260, "Genuine Classic Part."

<EDIT> It appears # 5003814 is LEFT
# 5003813 is RIGHT

The VIN is a bit longer string than that, and includes letters are well as numbers.

Those are caliper part numbers, search for things like "Volvo 3546491" etc you will get the info.

Right, that's just the production number.

Searching for those circles you back to 5003813 and 814.

If you go to FCP, they list a right rear Centric, "with smaller mounting holes." Not very specific, is it?

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... -142-39511

The left Centric says nothing about hole size.

Ipd has rebuilt rears, with no mention of holes.

I took at risk at Rock Auto reman by Nugeon, since I've read up on their rebuilding process. 11mm.

It seems people here on MVS have had poor results with Cardone and Centric, I don't know who rebuilds AC Delco's, and Ipd won't tell you who rebuilds theirs. FCP only has Centric.

I haven't bought anything from Rock Auto in years, and I'm skeptical. One thing I noticed is it's all very organized with easy links explaining every part of searching and ordering, but there is no way to add notes to your order to verify, no way to contact them, no email, no address - it's all designed to not have to pay humans, hence the prices. Drop shipped from "Warehouse A," it seems.

Yeah, I have bought several things from them recently, it is really easy, cheap and efficient, including core returns and even warranty returns, but no humans involved.
