Coolant Leak

Post by diplomaticm3 » Thu Oct 03, 2019 1:46 pm

Hi folks, having some trouble with a coolant leak. I thought I’d found the source...after driving, I found some bubbling in the line going from the reservoir to the pipe in the rear of the engine (pictured). I just replaced the line, but the bubbling/leak persists.

Am I missing something here? The engine temp is fine but it keeps leaking coolant after I refill the reservoir.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can try a higher quality clamp on that line, one with a solid clamp area. The cheap ones won't clamp well on a small clamp like that.

What type of coolant -- is it Volvo? When was the last coolant flush?

Last year I replaced a similar line on my '97 850, also due to a small leak. There was a crusty build-up of dried coolant residue on the end of the metal fitting. I cleaned it off with an abrasive pad before I put the new line on. No leaks so far.
