Climate Temp Sensor Fan Stays Running?

Post by a3inverter » Sun Oct 13, 2019 8:46 am

All,

Figured I'd start a new thread for this one.

After replacing the little temp sensor fan (pic attached) and verifying that the CCM can now control the cabin temp appropriately, I came back to the car several hours later and noticed a faint hum. That little fan is running all the time, even when the car is off. Checked it again this morning...still running.

This is NOT the main blower fan that blows air out in the cabin, this is the little fan that draws in air thru the 3 little slits in the CCM and across the temp sensor. I don't think it draws much power, but should it be running all the time?

It runs when you open the door and network wakes up. Open the door and then use something to close the latch and wait 15 minutes and come back and it should be off and when you pull outside handle it comes on. I put LED interior lights in the 2004 I had and the interior lights were on very dimly until several minutes after I exited car and the whole time I drove it.
The network goes down more quickly if you lock it.

The network on these cars goes at sleep indeed exactly 10 min (by the second) after not touching anything. See as above, may leave a front window down (passenger one is closer) and listen

The current draw is about 8mA for this fan as the coil is tiny. There's a function in Vida which looks at the current draw to ascertain if it's operational.
