pinkish color to Xenon headlight?

Post by davern444 »

One of my headlights on my 2011 XC70 with the Xenon bending lights has taken on a pinkish color to it and I'm not getting a warning light on the dash. My question is whether that is just the bulb going out or is the ballast or something different? I've never had Xenon lights before so I don't know what to expect when a bulb goes out.
Thanks

First off expect to spend a little money. I personally would replace the bulb. If that corrects it then your good. If not replace the ballast for the bulb. If you really want to get it and start the clock back to new life then replace both bulbs and ballast at the same time. I would look for aftermarket solutions from the OEM manufactures to save money.

Wow, I have never had Volvo HID but definitely go with bulbs first. Ballast are $469 each. https://www.fcpeuro.com/Volvo-parts/XC7 ... ords=Xenon

Osram is the factory company, Osram is Sylvania but you spend less $$ buying Xenon items in an Osram box instead a Sylvania box or even more expensive in a Volvo box... all the same quality product. I own a 2004 XC70 with factory HID/Xenon lighting.

HID bulbs go pink when they're at their end of life. It's perfectly normal and just tells you it's time to change it. Or that it was time quite a while ago really since they weaken as well.

Go with a brand bulb such as Osram and you'll be fine.
