Exhaust Louder BUT No Leaks?

Post by Eddystone » Mon Oct 21, 2019 7:37 pm

The exhaust on my non-turbo 1998 V70 seems to have gotten somewhat sportier (louder). I was underneath today and could not find a single leak anywhere. Has a stock Volvo exhaust. The increased sound is actually coming out of the tailpipe, and nowhere else.

Is it possible that baffles inside that big muffler have failed causing the final exhaust not to be louder? Bear in mind that it's not real bad, just definitely noticeable (to me).

Any ideas or shared experiences?

If it is one of the Starla mufflers, the flock of Baffles leaves in about 2-3 years max
