If it's in the shop for the sway bar let them do it. IIRC one of those bolts sits right on top of the rear exhaust pipe, and takes a beating from all that heat. Odds are you will break one of the two off, which I of course did. I replaced with two new ones, genuine Volvo, 11-12 bucks a piece, maybe? Car lived in SE USA all it's life as well. Rest of the job is easy, though, fender rivets minor PIA. New brackets, yeah for sure.

Well... the mechanic, who owns a Volvo, says there is a weld involved, so its a bodyshop job to take it apart.
Anyone think this is correct for a 1995 850 turbo wagon?

Maybe I'll take that offer of a pair of brackets, and get the rest of the hardware, and try doing it myself if it doesn't keep raining.

But they are getting a junkyard sway bar since they don't make them anymore... seems they have several odd diameters, down to a fraction of a mm... Other pieces & bushing were no problem.

IDPA is giving slightly different volvo PNs than in this post:

1999 V70T5M56 Rear Bumper Bracket Replacement 6816114 and shock cup 3546435
abscate » June 26th, 2018, 11:21 am

2 each 6816114 Brackets
IDPA says volvo says 6816115

4 each 988182 986504 Flange Screw
IDPA says volvo says M10x20 988182 the short ones

2 each 982831 Bracket screw (the long ones; called flange screw by volvo)
IDPA says volvo says PN 982833 for the long ones

ALSO 6 POP RIVETS FOR THE FENDER ATTACHMENT - any blind rivet.

He says that the flange screws are a hardware store item as long as I can find the good quality ones not the cheap junk usually sold. What am I looking for, is "class A" the term? I know good bolts have one, two, or three lines on the bolt head showing their strength.

No.

My 95 was a sedan, but no welds when I did this repair there. And no welds when I did it on my 96 wagon. And I've never heard of anyone dealing with welds for this repair, back to 93 model cars ...

from viewtopic.php?t=56982&p=288019 the best way to tell what diameter a P80 sway bar is, is by the color of the paint splotches on it:

front sway bar part #s:
9173982 O.Dia 20 mm (marked red)
9173983 O.Dia 21 mm (marked yellow)
9173471 O.Dia 21.5 mm (marked yellow/blue)

rear sway bar part #s, probable O.Diameter:
9191459 (marked green) 19.5 mm
9191461 (marked yellow) 20 mm
9191462 (marked blue) 20.8 mm
9191494 (marked black) 21 mm

It's nice to get a thicker bar if you can, but the green one in the back is better than none at all back there.

gone: '96 NA 850 210k, '98 NA V70 182k
