Post by Jayvolvo » Wed Oct 23, 2019 8:50 am

hey all i am new to Volvo's and my first purchase is a 2007 s60 25T. Its a great car but this morning it decided to lock me out with the keys in the ignition. Everything i can find tells me this is not suppose to happen when the keys are in the ignition and the engine is off. thanks in advance for you help.

Check the Owner's Manual to verify the operation. Did you manage to get the key out?

Yes I had to have some one drive the spare 70 miles one way to me. I tried to repeat the door locking and it would not do it again. I certainly don’t trust it now.

It could be someone disabled autolocks or some other feature in VIDA.

30 years of business travel have trained me to correlate key in car with open window!

1+,

Whenever I leave the engine running and need to open the hood etc., I lower the driver's glass halfway down just in case the car locks itself (although this never happened to me yet).

I have had the keys in the ignition with doors closed before nothing happened. I just happened drop something and let go of the door CLICK the door was locked. I am going to get a service key to stash just in case this happens again. Probably will take it by the dealership and let them look at it when I get a minute

- Find a local locksmith to cut a "dumb key" for you for $10.
Dumb Blank key can be bought on ebay for $5.
Of course this dumb key cannot start the engine but it can manually open the door.
