97 855R PCV 5/8 hose mod, what vacuum hose?

Post by Peevarino »

After breaking, and putting what equates to a band aid on, the plastic line from the box to the PTC, I figured replacement of the PCV setup is in order. The car has 195k on it, and I’m planning on having it for quite some time, I am going to avoid the plastic pipe and go for the 5/8 hose modification to the system.

My question for those who have done this is, what do y’all use for the vacuum hose between the passenger side of the manifold and the PTC?

Secondary to that question, is it worth it to use any sort of heat shielding over the two hoses where they run between block and intake manifold?

What, if any, elbow did you use connecting to manifold and PTC?

None. I added a clamp on the manifold side, just to keep it in place. I think on the PTC side I just used a zip tie as a clamp (Didn't have any better options that I was happy with).

Silicone is not my first choice for that connection. It works fine but the silicone will get oily and sweat oil. I went with good old rubber for that one only, no elbow as ChuckW says. All other vac lines I use silicone.

Some foam insulation from Lowe Quality home store would keep that pipe warm and also give some chafe relief

I prefer to use bendable copper A/C lines. Seem more durable and easier to fit to me.
