Good morning all.
My wife was driving my 2004 XC70 to work when she stopped getting acceleration with rough idle and stalling. Had the car towed and the check engine light diagnosed as Misfires on 3 spark plugs, an air leak, and a Mass Air Flow Sensor error.
Mechanic recommended changing the spark plugs as the car has 133k miles and hasn't a tune up done, and replaced the coil pack as well. He also ran a compression test on the cylinders and came back great. Picked up the car drove it around for the night with zero issues. Fast forward to my wife dropping the kids off the next morning, stopped to get gas and when she went to start the car back up it won't start. All the dash lights flash when she tries, then they all disappear leaving only the check engine light and a red oil light with the steering wheel seized up and unable to turn. The steering wheel is movable when the car starts up at first.
Any idea or help is appreciated. It's being towed back to the same mechanic as we speak, but I'm at work with limited phone accessibility. I'm hoping it's something simple like a wire or something that came undone while they did the tune up as a recent string of repairs and deer accidents has left me a bit high and dry in the repair funds dept.
Thanks in advance guys/gals!

I'm going to guess it's an intermittent fuel related issue affect those 3 areas above? Provide some codes and check the fuel pressure. Make sure your mechanic is not just parts swapping. If the compression is all good it's unlikely that all those items above malfunctioned all at once. Sensors were just not happy with another issue that took place affecting those areas.DScholl1183 wrote: 07 Nov 2019, 10:06 Good morning all.

If he is stumped check the fuel pressure, relays and maybe change the fuel filter but he can't be just guessing and swapping parts. The car drove fine with all the new parts but I'm thinking it might have driven just as well if those were not change as it did the same thing again. Is you Mech a Volvo specialist. I am terrible with fuel and electrical related issues but an just analyzing the events taking place. Don't get me wrong also about guessing your Mech abilities.

If I read this correctly you have a no crank afterwards?. Fast forward to my wife dropping the kids off the next morning, stopped to get gas and when she went to start the car back up it won't start. Charge battery first , if that doesn’t cure it, I would look for bad wiring in the charging and starting circuit.
