03 T6 Driver's Side Control Arm Bolts

Post by MoVolvos » Fri Nov 08, 2019 7:16 pm

I've looked everywhere and have not found anything on removing the two control bolts for the driver's side. The T5's have much more room but the T6's needs... Room. Anyone has done this work before? Thanks.

Are you asking about the bolts that cannot be removed b/c they hit the subframe?

Repair approach is to reuse them and leave them in place. Remove the two nuts and all other connection points, pull bolts back as far as you can and then with the rest disconnected the arm will come off.

Thanks for the reply SuperHerman! The two bolts are too close to the Transmission Pan I think. The T5's are much easier from some of the videos on Youtube. I read somewhere the engine mount, which one I don't recall has to be removed and engine lifted up to access the bolts. Just trying to find a trick way to do this.

It has been sometime since I replaced mine (2004 S80 NA - but non turbo shouldn't matter - no longer in my fleet). I don't recall lifting the engine, but I may have. If not I most likely used a spanner with an offset.

Here is a video with a guy lifting the engine and showing what engine mount points he manipulated to get the engine to lift.
