Does anyone know the price these days for having the ETM Programmed for a 2999 C70 HT 2.3?

We are going to need a Dorelan and 88 mph to get that but for a P80 it’s about one hour labor at Volvo. It’s been written here the correct approach is to just go ask for a reprogram and not mention if ETM has been replaced. Some dealers won’t program a used ETM

What do you want?

1. Just a software clone to another unit that you have.
2. Repair the one you have.
3. A rebuilt and pre-programed unit.

Well...after all the work I have done I still have the ETM issue, though the other issues seem resolved, I installed a used ETM built by XemodeX in 2013 I was told, he said it would work,came off a 99 turbo c70, mine is a 2000 HT 2.3, well i still have the ETS light on the dash so i assume it needs programming to work with my car since i have no way of knowing if it came off identical model turbo as mine. So i called a dealer a week ago and he told me they would have to do a diagnosis first then to program all total of $550, which I don't have at the moment,want to know my options and how much to make this one work in my car. Abscate said and hour labor at the dealer,if that is the case that won't be to bad.

I looked for a program labour time but couldn’t find one. Software diagnosis time is 0.5 hours

$550sounds like 4 hours labour which is excessive.

My thoughts exactly, what is your opinion on the service xemodex offers where they charge $99 for a diagnosis of the ETM via the NET, they send you the hardware laptop etc and then syn with you through the net , is it a waste or do you think it is worth it. The only thing i can think is this one came off of a 99 LT mine is the HT 2.3 so that must be why it is not working,i cleaned it well before installing it with a new gasket and all my other issues are gone.I drove the car down the street yesterday and it has the same no throttle response after a few minutes of driving, only error code or light i have on now is the ETS, both codes i had prior are gone and i have checked 2 or 3 times after running and driving it. I’ve never used the Xmodex service so I can’t comment.

I think all th hardware is identical, the software has to be correct.

What is the ETM issue you are having? Does the car run at all? If it runs, what are the problems it displays?

If the car does not run, when you switch the ignition on, do you get a whirring from the ETM? If it is compatible, then the ETM butterfly will rotate and position the flap to start condition. If there is no whirring or movement, then the seller lied and either the ETM is goosed, or it is not compatible.

Do you still have the original ETM? If you do, Xemodex can repair it and make sure the software is correct for your car. Not cheap. You will need to check their website for current pricing.

Crucial question here is do you have the old ETM?

With connection to a Dice unit with Vida you can easily compare the XeModex unit and see if software version is in fact the same. With purchase of a Dice unit and access to a laptop you can have Doublebug or Yagger (2 of our programming gurus here) remote in and perform the clone.

All up cost about USD$150
