Why is IPD PCV kit so much more than FCP kit?

Post by Nick777 » Mon Nov 18, 2019 10:53 pm

…why is the Genuine Volvo 850 PCV kit priced so much higher with them (about 250$) versus what is very nearly an identical kit at FCP (also all Genuine Volvo except for clamps and intake gasket - about 150$)?

Now the FCP kit doesn't contain replacement injector o-rings, but for $10 more at FCP you can get 5 by Victor Reinz.

That brings it to IPD at $250 vs FCP at $160.

Am I missing something?

I don't think you are missing anything. I've noticed the same situation for several other parts at iPd, they seem to be overpriced. If you are doing the job I would definitely recommend using a genuine Volvo intake gasket as well as the Victor Reinz o-ring seals. Order 2 sets of seals (cheap insurance) and be sure to use some lube if it's your first time doing this job, they are easy to pinch.

Thanks for the feedback and the tips.

I've bought from IPD several times in the past and will continue to do so. Even though as you noted their prices on some products are a bit higher than FCP, I'll still use them and pay the small difference sometimes because i l really appreciate that they're a Volvo-only shop, and I like that purity. However when the price difference is as great as it is for the geuine Volvo PCV kit, I simply can't afford that price differential.

Hey whats up i recently contacted ipd about this issue of the pcv kit costing 250.00 versus the 146.00 for the kit from fcp and from what i was told from ipd they sent me an email-- they basically said the cost of the parts from volvo have changed dramatically like the host that runs underneath the intake manifold and clamps onto the pcv box they told me that price has tripled within the last few months. they also told me fcp euro must have a pile of old stock left for these pcv kits because ipd tells me you simply cant get the kit for that cheap anymore.

to give you another example i ordered a mass air flow sensor from ipd in 2016 for my 1998 volvo v70xc that was 140.00 and when i looked on ipd's site recently that same mass air flow sensor is now over 300.00 when i asked ipd about that also they told me their supplier no longer carries these and they have to purchase these directly from volvo now.

Ah-ha! Now that makes sense.

Thanks a bunch for the clarity!

Yikes

Did a little research on mass air flow sensor pricing

. 1998 now $300 for turbo , $200 for NA. Bremi only $80 but we know better , don’t we?

Finally get a bastard win as the 1999-2000 special in Bosch is only $90
