1996 850 won't start...

1996 850 won't start...

About 3 weeks ago, I turned on my car. It ran for maybe 20 seconds then slowly over about 10 seconds lowered RPM until it died. Replaced fuel pump and fuel pump relay as those are common to go on this car at this milage (138k miles), and no dice. It cranks but won't start. Then I put new plugs in because I pulled out the old ones which were black. I also let it sit to make sure any gas could evaporate if it got flooded at all. I'm getting spark (video of tester included) but again, no start. Fuel is getting to the rail. I used the flow chart but cannot make out what to do next.

Any help is appreciated, my dad and I are just lost as to what it could be. We think maybe something with the timing belt but haven't worked out how to go down that road yet.

Check that fuel pressure at the rail. These cars need correct fuel pressure,not just some gas at the squirt nozzle.
Pull ypthr distributor cap and inspect rotor and cap for dirt, oil, corrosion, kangaroo droppings

How many miles are on the beast? ( reading comp fail, 138k)

Look at the quality of the spark with a plug out, and take compression while you have it out,

Skip timing belt for now. They don’t go wrong, other than spectacularly.

It doesn't sound like there is much compression in the videos. Check compression with a gauge as suggested and/or most relevantly try the lawn mower syndrome fixes. Long crank with foot to the floor, or try a teaspoon of oil in each cylinder and a long crank with foot to the floor.

Other thoughts:
- Checking under the cap is a good idea, possibly a couple things went wrong at the same time.
- didn;t mess up the order of the plug wires? Coil wire still connected?
- If the new fuel pump relay is Kaehler then beware, people have had them be bad right out of the box.
- Double and triple checked all connections like all sensors? I suppose you never disconnected (m)any of those.
- Any codes, or codes pending?
