98 S90 leak from power steering reservoir

Post by thefisch »

1998 S90 with 114k miles. Spotted this pattern indicative of a leak on my power steering reservoir over the weekend. PS fluid level is still above the fill line (not too low) so it appears to be a slow leak at least so I wasn't in a rush.

Upon further inspection today, there is fluid where the hose meets the reservoir so it would appear the hose is bad. The close up below shows some cracks in the hose.

No sign of leaking from the reservoir itself from what I can tell. That is what I suspected might be leaking at first but I suppose that air from the road was pushing the fluid up from the hose end up onto the reservoir.

I expect I can reuse the clamps and just get the correct length and diameter of hose. If anyone has any tips or other issues I should check for while doing this, please let me know.

Instead of replacing the hose, it is getting a second chance. Shaved a little off the end and reattached with same clamp. Will see if if it holds.
