98 V70 AWD, I have been getting a popping noise coming from the front right, it can be felt through the passenger side floor according to my wife. Here is the odd part, it only happens under braking or left turns, and not consistently, sometimes it will only do it once in a day, and other times multiple times a minute. It always seems to happen when going over uneven road, I have never heard it on a smooth road. I drove 300KM on saturday, down rough snowy roads, and gravel roads, not a single time it popped, yet today, happened 3 times going to the grocery store. I am thinking of checking the front subframe bolts, I have checked the sway bar links, lower ball joint, and lower control arm bolts, they all seem tight. Anybody else have this issue and did you find the cause?

I had a frustrating knocking on my V70R for several years. Changed everything and eventually when we ran out ideas when the sub-frame mounts were inspected and the rear passenger-side subframe mount had failed and was moving under load. Not so much a popping noise though, more of a knock.

Another possibility, especially while or after braking, but more klicking or slight knocking:
If the front calipers get worn the brake pads have too much room to move back and forth while hitting the brake and accelerating/coasting afterwards. This make a clicking or knocking aoind that is hard to diagnose, especially because it fools you into thinking it is corner-related because you might have put the foot on the brake slightly before turning.
But worn subframe bushings as Neil pointed out are high on the list of possible causes, I'd say.

That very well could be, I was leaning towards the subframe shifting. I was going to try hitting the mounts with a socket to see if they were loose. This car has sat for awhile, I am guessing 8 years or so, so the rubbers are drying out from the sitting. I'm hoping the rears are good, since I am AWD, I dont thing the rear subframe mounts are too easy to come by.
