Volvo does sell them

I’ll post the part number if I find it

It is just for centering the power steering pump during assembly

A field expedient repair would be to substitute a plastic tube of appropriate diameter

Possibly part of an old tooth brush or something similar

Good luck

Paul

I ordered a new waterpump coupling anyway that comes with the pin.

What actually worries me is how to get the remains of the old pin, that broke off, out of the power steering pulley

The broken old pin should pull right out.

Small pick tool should work well.

if you remove the pump you could drill it out also, but that shouldn't be needed.

Good luck

A few hints that might be helpful to some as I am progressing. It’s a bit of whiggle, but it’s worth trying: The PS pump will eventually slide under the ABS unit making much needed room. When putting the PS pump back together, use a longer M5 screw as an additional temporary guide pin for one side of the waterpump coupling. One side held together by the longer screw, it’s much easier to screw in the shorter original screw on the opposite side. Once that is in, replace the longer screw with the remaining second, shorter screw.

Next problem. :-)
The idler pulley from FCP came with a sort of bracket or washer that holds the screw.
The idler pulley that I pulled off the engine does not have that and with that bracket I can’t tighten the new pulley.
I asked FCP and after much research they told me they don’t know if the bracket is needed or not.
Does anyone know? Is that perhaps just a washer to hold the screw in place for the delivery of the part?

The bearing is centered on the Aluminum boss.

You can use the old hardware if to bolt down the new pulley.

The bolt is just to keep the bearing on the post.

A last hint for those who are also struggling to keep the lower washer of the AC bracket in place while fiddling the bracket back in: apply some super glue, screw until tight, wait till glue is dry, remove screw and the washer stays in place.
