How to install windshield cowl LH and RH seals?

Post by jamesf »

I was getting lots of water in the passenger footwell and found the Swedish National Forest around the air intake underneath the windshield cowl. Once I cleaned everything up I could not figure out how to install these seals (PN 8862737 & 8862738 #23 on the windshield cowl PDF). The things that look like clips, maybe to attach to the fender? are cracked off which doesn't help.

thanks,

These seals attach in the bottom corners of the windshield. The plastic rivet clip that comes with the seals gets pushed into a hole in the pan (item 18). There are other posts about leaks into the passenger footwell.
See my post for a shield covering the air intake duct. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=92152

Is driver's side dry under the carpet ?
Also verify the sunroof drains are clear, especially one on the pass side www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlaiU2ysB5E

Yep driver's side is fine. The sunroof drain hose on the passenger side was pinched under the pillar cover, but it flows after being readjusted. Next rainstorm it flooded again. There was enough water and crap under the cowl that I'm 90% sure that was the issue.

Oh, that was quite some forest there. Also around the intake for the cabin blower, there is a foam seal around the opening where the outer black plastic neck is seated against the car frame. Mine was displaced a little at some point, I think I see yours also coming loose a little bit, worth a look (pic). Finally, worth looking at the bottom cover of the cabin blower, if a previous owner removed it and didn't put back all 5 small screws tight enough (especially the hidden rear one), this bottom cover is not sealing and will leak water inside the cabin
