I recently had the radiator replaced on my 2007 XC90, and when I got it back, noticed a plug was disconnected. It’s located to the right (as you face the car) of the air filter housing. Here are 3 labeled photos to show what I’m talking about:
The first two are of the same location, the second is a closeup. The third is of what I think is the corresponding connection on the passenger side of the car.
The problem is that I can’t for the life of me find the other half of the connection (much less do I know what it’s for). Does anyone know where those wires would be coming from? Perhaps someone could post a photo of the same area in a same or similar model year XC90 V8.
By the way, I got a check engine light (p0174) shortly after getting the car back from the shop. Don’t know if it’s related to the open connection.
Thanks for your help!

I have the same exposed plug on my 2010 V8. If I had to guess, it would be for an accessory like the optional aux lighting kit. That being said, the code you have is system lean. I would look for air leaks around the intake especially vacuum lines and I noticed your air box is zip tied? maybe make sure all the connections are tight around the mass airflow sensor.
Thank you, Masscomguru! You saved me from a wild goose chase. A different plug had been left unconnected during the repair; I thought this was another one.
The zip tie is temporary. I’m not sure how to attach the air cleaner box to the body. I think it’s held down with a nut on that piece that’s just in front of the plug.
