Our 1995 960 Sedan gas cap had a little plastic bar that stretched across the white part that goes into the tank. You could hang this on a lip at the opening while filling the tank. That bar broke a while back. Now, I just put the gas cap on the corner between the back window and the trunk, or on top of the pump...usually on the car since I'm less likely to drive off without it.
The original and current cap passes pressure test during emissions testing, so I'm not sure I should bother changing it out. The only ones I see available come with a leash, but this leash has nowhere to attach on the 960. They look totally different, in many ways, but IPD says it will fit.

Questions: Should we just use the original until it stops working and a CEL comes on? We don't have to do emissions testing this year since it will be grandfathered. If we do buy a new one, is there a way to make that leash hook to something on the 960, or should we try to cut it off? Does the new style work as well as the old one? Obviously, the first one has done well to last 25 years.
