Paint Job on New Bumper

Hi,

I was rear ended not too long ago, and the bumper needed to be replaced and repainted. A new Volvo OEM bumper was painted and put on by the shop. The new bumper was lightly tapped shortly after being replaced

The bumper itself is fine, but the paint is flaking off and bubbling terribly all over the side of the bumper that was lightly tapped. I was hit much harder when I was rear-ended, and the paint was fine, besides where the other vehicle contacted the bumper. Is this normal for after-market paint jobs?

You can actually buy a new OEM bumper cover from Volvo all ready painted in your cars color. I just went through this with an insurance company who wanted to have the body shop paint an unpainted cover. I perservered and got a new painted cover from Volvo. Painting plastic requires correct prep work, otherwise it does what yours has done

Thank you. Did you buy it from Volvo directly? I saw that Tasca sells painted bumpers, but I’m not sure who painted them (does Volvo paint them?).
