Greetings from Maui Hawaii!
Looking for any insight on DIY replacement of the fuel pump in my 2009 3.2l XC70 Wagon
Have searched everywhere for insight & cant fin it for 2009. My question do I have to DROP the tank OR can I make access to the tank in the cabin of the car?
Thank you so much Tad
Error code p0171 with definite fuel pump issues on starting.

If the fuel pump is not dead and fails to run I would change the fuel pressure sensor on the end of the fuel rail before doing the pump. Yes to my knowledge you must remove the rear drive shaft and drop the tank (thank you engineers at Ford or Volvo whoever did this design).
I did mine last fall and kinda made my own path to the pump. I used tin snips to open an access port under the rear passenger seat and made my life so much easier. I bent a piece of sheet metal to fit and glued it back over the hole after. Hours were saved!
