Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's extremely popular car line -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
I have a Volvo S70 from 1998 with an ECC. The main issue is with the blower. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Today I removed the glovebox compartment and gave the connector on the blower motor a pull and it came back to life. Nudged a bit more and it stille kept on working. Cleaned the connector and the plug with some pc cleaner.
But, ofcourse, the blower motor didn't work when I drove to get some groceries. Can you guys help me out with some solid advice how to get rid of this problem?
Thanks in advance!

Are there any codes stored in ecc?
Does ac and rec flash when there are codes stored like in 850?
Brushes are pretty durable on the volvo blowers.
Did you try to lube the shaft with some oil or wd40.
Power stage have high sensitivity and if blower pulls just a bit more voltage than it's suppose to pull, ecc will turn it off to protect circuits.
Lubing the bearings will solve the issue in 99.9%.
Talking from my personal experience.
Other thing you can do is to pull the fuse for ECC for 10min in order to reset ECC.
It should work after that....if not....you need to lube the bearings on the shaft.
You need to remove it in order to lube it.
Check the brushes while it's removed....brushes are replaceable part.

Nope....you put a few drops on dry bearings with a straw and syringe down to the shaft.Dry bearings apsorb the oil,you wipe out the excess from the shaft.
Dust can't access the bearings.
