Im a guy from sweden, have a problem whit my volvo. A few weeks ago the car didnt start, the startmotor just cranked but it didnt start. Tried again but no luck. Then i hold the startbutton in so all the lights came on the dash. Then i tried to start and the car fired up right away. Engine light came on and p33500 faultcode was trigged. Order a new crankshaft position sensor and put it in. But after a few days the car was the same and same faultcode. Starts right upp when i turn on the ignition first before i try to start. Clear the fault code and the car runs normal. The starting problem comes and goes...any ideas whats wrong whit my car?

Sounds fun. I'd start with the wiring - make sure the connector is not dirty/corroded, then check if any high power wires (especially starter or coils) run close to the sensor or sensor wiring. You could also look at the tach needle and see if it does anything weird or if it does anything at all when the car is acting up, although I'm not sure if that could help on these cars. Then report back.

This response maybe comes quite a bit late, but a faulty battery could cause this kind of symptoms if voltage during startup drops too much.
