Hello everyone,
I few years ago I purchased the V60 T5 (5 cylinder) AWD, at 30K, currently 60K. Since then I have been trying to figure out this rattling sound at start up and slight acceleration. Volvo could not find anything abnormal, even the videos sent to corporate did not help. The rattling does not affect drivability or performance in any way, it is just annoying. In addition to this the car developed an intermittent knocking/tapping sound coming from the engine bay as well, I am thinking belt area but can not be 100% sure. I'll post two links with sound/noise this car makes. Any input would be appreciated. Note: Volvo did replace the heat shields since they thought they were the origin of this mysterious rattle, that did not change a thing.
Thank you all.

I have the same vehicle as you, and noticed that cold starts have gotten louder. I took my car to the annual service appointment, and the diagnosis from the service guys was that while rear muffler was not leaking, some of the baffles inside have come loose, and resonate with the exhausts. The quoted price for a new rear muffler was $1,200 and I politely declined. Should be simple enough DIY job to change, and the price I found online for the back muffler unit was under $400.
I have a similar problem with a 2010 Volvo XC60 T6 with 130K miles. It sounds very similar to your videos at startup and low power acceleration. Higher power acceleration makes the rattling and ticking go away and the engine sounds normal. This problem started about 2 weeks ago and has rapidly become worse in the first week. I have removed the bottom splash guard and listened for abnormal noises from underneath and above, but the engine sounds normal except for the valve ticking may be a little louder than usual. The noise is more noticeable from inside the car, and sounds like it is coming from the engine compartment on the passenger side. I am thinking exhaust leak or turbo charger, but there is also the valve ticking noise on the top side of the engine. It appears to be coming from the passenger side end of the rear cam. My first reaction was to check the oil because it kind of sounds like an engine with low oil, but it goes away when I accelerate hard. It was a quart low, but this is not unusual since this car has been leaking oil for a while. I think the oil is coming from the turbo because there is a lot in the intake, and the oil on the bottom of the engine is on the transmission/driver side. No check engine light or low oil level light. Any help or suggestions to diagnose this problem would be appreciated. Did you ever find out the problem with your V60?
