Aux belt comes off, not sure if there's a decent write-up on MVS but there's one here- https://forums.swedespeed.com/showthrea ... eplacement

Pay special attention to taking time to release the tensioner, it has a fluid filled damper inside the spring. Same goes for when you put the belt back on. If this vehicle has not had the belt, idlers and tensioner changed out (Volvo says 150k miles but there are a few reports of spun front cover idler studs at around 130k+), you really ought to consider doing the whole thing. Good time to swap out coolant as well, I use OE as it's comparable in price and I never have to wonder.

I had to replace a seeping PS pump a couple of months ago, did water pump and a bunch of hoses as preventative maintenance while I was in. Some photos for general reference (not a lot on the WP I'm afraid) - https://photos.app.goo.gl/biUK5fYifiYobj7g6

Good luck with your repair.

I just replaced the thermostat on our 2004 XC90 T6, while I had everything apart I replaced the thermostat housing, temp sensor, gaskets, 2 resevoir coolant hoses, coolant, clamps and installed a brass fitting after removing the plastic fitting that came with the new Volvo thermostat housing.
