The hood release cable on my new to me 2009 XC70 is rusted stuck. It doesn't look easy, but doable. I'm waiting for the part to come in, $46.00 shipped. I'm just looking for some hints from anyone who's done this chore. I'm just surprised that a car built for cold weather has such a crappy cable on it. Thanks ahead of time.

New cable two used hood latches and the job is completed. I'm just disappointed a 2009 with 82K has these parts fail because of rust. Oh well, used car.

I have a 2010 S80 and need to change my hood latch release cable as well. The issue I am having is removing the cable from the two latches. Shouldn't the cable sheath just pull out of the plastic retainer and the medal knob lift right out of the slit? The cable sheath looks a bit rusty inside the plastic retainers on the metal latch. I tried to slide the cable out of the latch and it does not kobe at all. The new cable looks like it just slides into the latch with some pressure and the know is pushed through the slotted area. Do I have to replace the latches as well since I cannot seem to be able separate the cable from the latches? Crazy! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
