catalytic converter replacement availability

Can someone please direct me to where I can possibly find a direct replacement catalytic converter that does not cost $400, I can't seem to find a direct fit even at that price,seems as there is not a replacement period.

It looks like $400 is the lower limit for direct fit. There is one on eBay for $394.50 . Magflow direct fit runs ~ $600.

Are you 100% sure it needs replaced. You would not be the first to replace a Catalytic converter only to discover later there was nothing wrong with the Catalytic converter .. the Resonator or Muffler was clogged.

Second Rick, make sure it truly needs replacement. Try calling Erie Vo-Vo as well for a good used part.

Federal law forbids selling used Catalytic converters unless it has been properly tested and labeled. Nobody does it because it is not cost effective. It is more cost effective to sell them as scrap for precious metals recovery.

Bosal makes one for under $300 as long as your state doesn’t require them to pass smog

CARiD has some direct fit for 2000 C70 HPT for as low as $329.12 . looks like shipping is free.

I ended up not replacing it, I just replaced both O2 sensors, it was just a for good measure thing that i was considering replacing it, we don't have inspection stickers,smog control and all that where i live. I finally have the car running and driving, it runs D.... good I might add, it has 144K on the odometer, only issue im having now is a leak of some sort which i have been trying to find for over a week, i dont drive it because of this one reason.

Tracer dye is Fluorescent dye you add to the fluid. Then trace the leak back to the source with a Ultraviolet (UV) light. You can get Tracer dye and the UV light at any parts store.

Instead of running to the parts store for tracer dye. You could head to the kitchen and cook up some Carbon Quantum Dots. They glow green when exposed to an ultraviolet light.
