2004 S60 lug bolts

Post by StickyPocket »

Hi all, going to replace tires soon, wanted to get new lug bolts as the originals all look pretty bad and rusted. Is there any reason to get Volvo brand here? Looking at set of febi: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... t-febi-kit
Compared to set of volvo: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... t-31362432

About $100 difference. Febi is zinc plated, Volvo is chrome plated. Any other brand recommendations?

There is another option, lug nut caps. They quit using metal chrome ones due to hazardous waste residue. Chrome on plastic uses a fraction of the waste as the prep process is different. The caps are what they started using on newer models. On Amazon for 10.99 and up when I searched "19 mm chrome lug caps". The set comes with the same removal tool Volvo and others pack in their ca when they uses the caps.

Get the Febi bolts. $60 = no brainer. They aren’t an exact replica of the Volvo bolts but they are incredibly lovely! German made also. I have a picture somewhere of them on one of our cars.

How did your pocket get sticky?

Edit: I meant to say, I would avoid any 1-piece lug bolts. I’ll post a photo later.

Just suggest ordering 2 sets, in case a few get lost

One of our P2’s, well before we bought it, Discount tire convinced the previous owner it would be a good idea to replace the lug bolts with their 10-point bolts. Kinda scary. The one-piece bolts chatter, squeak and pop as you tighten them. Impossible to get an accurate torque on them.

Anyhow, I went Febi since it costs about the same to get 20 used Volvo lug bolts.

Meant to be a music thing, but can be interpretted differently i guess.

In the side by side picture - is that febi bolt, old volvo bolt, 10-point bolt?

Absolutely, if you have alloy rims. Steel rims should take the one piece bolts. I keep a set of one-piece, fixed cone ones in the trunk for use with the spare wheel.
