Wiring Diagram '98 S70

Post by russellbach3 » Tue Mar 10, 2020 7:24 am

Would someone please be able to share with me information on or the wiring diagram itself for a 98 S70? I have a problem that I have seen others have here in the forums — my Central Locking fuse (#6) is draining my battery. I believe it could be one of the doors that is doing the draining (I think the relay is fine).

If it is a door, is it possible to disconnect a single door from the line and go on without bothering to replace, etc? Just leaving it as a manual unlock ?

Is it possibly something else hooked into that fuse that could be doing it — how can I disconnect the alarm system if that is tied into that fuse?

Can you see if any of the red door warning lights are on? It's common for the rear doors, especially, to do this, and it'll certainly drain your battery if left on. I assume that's probably on the central locking fuse, but I haven't checked.
You should be able to just disconnect the door latch from behind the door panel. There is an electrical connector on it.

I haven’t seen any of the red door warning lights pop on. Will double check that today. Thank you much for the diagram — it is exactly what I needed to track this problem down. I suspect rear door as well as others have had that problem narrowed down to there. I tried to see if any of the doors were making a humming noise (someone said theirs’ was doing that), but I got nothing.

Google TP3932202. That is the number for the 1998 Volvo Models S70, V70, C70 Coupe Wiring Diagrams.

Thanks for the information. Do you happen to also know where I could find the repair manual online?

I discovered an amazing website (WayBackMachine) where they archive documents off websites from years passed. The wiring diagram was on that site through a website (volvowiringdiagrams) that had posted it years ago. I’m probably being confusing but it’s way cool (way back cool - ha)! I already had the wiring manual from bmdubya but was looking for the service manual when I stumbled on that fun nugget.

Down load and install VIDA 2014D_Repack, read at least pages 1, 6 & 16.

VIDA will be your best bet as far as repair manuals go.

I finally had some time to check this all out today. It was a connector in the rear passenger door. One of the two connectors there that connects to the locking mechanism. Wasn’t sure exactly what that one in particular was for though — I still have the power locks from the driver’s side door. No more battery drain!
