I replaced a dented front (right) passenger door with one from the same era (04 I think).
After mounting the door and reconnecting the wiring, none of the electronics but the speakers work. Door will lock from the fob, but not from the master switch.
Wifey was complaining about intermittent troubles in the driver window switch so I disassembled that switch and cleaned the rubber pressure pad and circuit board (with contact lens solution and an cotton ball). Reassembled that door and it's windows and mirror now work perfectly, but still no response from the passenger door.
I have tried both the original (02 grey) switch and the replacement (04 tan) switch and still no joy.
Tried disconnecting both door switches, disconnect the battery. reconnect the switches, then reconnect the battery. Nope...
I was able to make the window go up and down with 12v @ 6 A from a battery charger like Ozark Lee had written before. So, the motor works. The mirror is from the original car, so I know it's ok electrically.
Whaddya guys think?

normally i'd say from my experience to use the original switch if it worked and you should be ok...
Sounds like you tried that.
perhaps someone else can share their experience, I know this stuff drives me bonkers too !

Check that you haven’t crossed a CANBUS change in the P2 line.
Switches don’t control current anymore in P2s, they send signals to controllers to request action.

Yes electrically, the old door was functioning correctly.
What I will be trying next is to move the wiring harness from the old door over to the new one.
Cheers,
-Bud

when you swapped out the all electronic canbus switches with your original switches, check the wires are the same sometimes they make small changes.

can you guys expand the CANBUS acronym? Not sure exactly wht that means but I think I can define it through context...
Anyhow, do you mean the wires color/pin position are the same in the harness from the old and new door?
Yes I'll check that later today.
Another question: Do you think the door lock mechanism (in the passenger door) would be coded to only work with my car? If so I may need to swap that over as well. PITA because it's riveted....

CANBUS - its the era of computer control of stuff vs the old school method of wiring supply voltages to things.
On a 1998 car, when you push a window switch, it send current throught the switch to the electric motor in the door.
On a 2005 car, a different switch sends a signal to a controller that sends the current to the electric motor on the door.
The protocol and speeds of the BUS (the communication link) have to match and speak the same language - I think the 2002 and 2004 are the same but verify or else its resistance will be futile. If you grabbed a 2005 car door , the CANBUS speed changed that year so it won't work.
If you are lucky me and have a 1999/2000- CANBUS controls critical engine functions, and the rest of the car is analog!
