More statistics on US states and COVID-19 growth rates. My raw information is from Worldometer. Any errors or misrepresentations are my own.

These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.

Again, results change daily.
State growth rates for May 20, 2020. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate (the worst containment) are: Montana (0.389) with 478 cases, North Dakota (0.149) with 2095 cases, Minnesota (0.135) with 17,670 cases, Maine (0.134) with 1819 cases, and West Virginia (0.107) with 1567 cases. All states have reopened to various levels.

Worldometer https://www.worldometers.info/coronavir ... rus-cases/ has started to add state curve information to their website.

A column on the right shows the current growth rate divided by the 5 day moving average. Montana, Hawaii, and West Virginia were over 2.0 yesterday (red highlight). South Dakota, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, and Georgia were over 1.5 yesterday (yellow highlight).

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.0192 for yesterday, up from previous day of 0.0184. This is not population or case number weighted.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate (the worst containment) are: West Virginia (0.184) with 1705 cases, Oklahoma (0.167) with 5849 cases, Minnesota (0.164) with 19,005 cases, North Dakota (0.105) with 2317 cases, and Arkansas (0.103) with 5612 cases. All states have reopened to various levels.

Worldometer https://www.worldometers.info/coronavir ... rus-cases/ has started to add state curve information to their website.

A column on the right shows the current growth rate divided by the 5 day moving average. Only West Virginia was over 2.0 yesterday (red highlight). Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Navajo Nation were over 1.5 yesterday (yellow highlight).

For yesterday, 46 states were equal or less than 0.10 growth rate (new cases double in a week). There were 36 states equal or less than 0.050 growth rate (new cases double in two weeks). The number of states to meet this criteria were less than May 18. This was single day information and not a moving average.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.0212 for yesterday, down from previous day of 0.0250. This is not population or case number weighted.
