I got a fault code for my VVt valve, so i removed it and after watching some informative youtube videos tested it and fairly sure its faulty.

Applyed 12v to it and it clicks but nothing moves. Reversed polarity and same thing.

Found my spare VVt valve and it tested but the plug is different took a guess all green was ground and green/white was 12v.

Is this valve non polarity? only two wires one goes to 12v the other goes to the ECM...

Green Orange takes 12 Volts DC from the main really 2/32 via fuse 11B/5

Yellow Brown is the control signal which is grounded by the ECM to control VVT solenoid position

Polarity will be important.

The new style was designed for cars with DUAL VVT, so the connectors don't bump into each other - functionally identical to the old.

The solenoid shunts oil on a duty cycle , so it won't click open and closed like a typical one.

Fault codes for VVT are pretty reliable, and a junkyard is good source for replacement.

I noticed no polarity when I tested mine. If it clicks when the engine is HOT - so when the solenoid is hot as well, it's fine, it's hard to see the thing moving inside www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3w3kLF0-I4

VVT solenoid codes may also come if the VVT hub was not pre-tensioned. When you look at the hub from the side (pop the cover), the three securing bolts, are they in the middle of their groove ?

Ok my wire colours are different, according to this wiring diagram from 2002 v70 i am just going to connect wire from connector pin1 to pin1 of the new connector. Fingers crossed that should work.

Look closely at the plug ends. You should be able to identify numbers in very small print in/on the electrical connector housing, use your original for reference. I had to do this on our 2001.
