New to me 240

Post by jononation »

Just bought a beauty of a 240 for $600. Near mint interior and the exterior is amazing considering it's a 1986 model. It was sqewing out oil from the rear camshaft area because the seal popped off. So I cleaned the flame trap, oil thing it's attached to and the hoses. Put in a new rear cam seal.

Now I'm wondering... what else should I do to it to make sure it's in prime condition? It runs really nice now and I don't think it's leaking anymore oil (have only driven it once since the listed repairs).

If you do not know how many kilometers are on the timing belt, change it ASAP.
A 1986 240 timing belt interval is 50,000 miles (80,000 kilometers).

With the newer belt technology it is probably safe to go longer, if the belt is of high quality.
Continental ContiTech list 60,000 miles (96,000 kilometers) for their TB032 belt.
